HARVEST TOGETHER
An Enactus Dundee Project in association with DRIVE Enterprises
A community project in association with Drive Enterprises, 'Harvest Together' is a garden-share project developed and run by the student society Enactus Dundee in cooperation with on-campus student enterprise DRIVE. The project aims to connect gardens that are not sufficiently used by their owners with individuals who are willing to work on the land in order to grow vegetables and fruit. Throughout the course of the programme Enactus is planning to empower a group of locals, who are struggling financially, by teaching them how to market, add value to, and eventually sell the products of their labour. This will generate an independent income for the individuals in the group and provide them with transferable skills for further employment. The Enactus team will also deliver a series of workshops on various aspects of employability to the group members, leading to a potential work placement with the InterContinental Hotels Group, which is one of many Enactus sponsors. Harvest Together is a community project. The main idea is a group of beneficiaries will come together to grow crops. The goods reaped from the harvest will then be utilized and made into jams and chutneys. We will then market this produce and sell it on the local market and with in local shops.
LONG TERM GOAL: A sustainable future for our beneficiaries. Using the skills
established through the project to gain long-term employment.
WHERE?
We already have two
plots to start and we are
currently in negotiations to
gain more space. Dundee
university students will
prepare these gardens with
local volunteers and then
these gardens will be passed
over to the local group to
grow their crops.
WHY?
We want a project that
not only helps a group in the
community but also helps the
community. Through harvest
together we can reduce CO2
emissions, spruce up shabby
gardens and most importantly
help to change the lives of
those who need it.
HOW?
Our beneficiaries will
develop skills primarily
though gardening. However,
we will also tailor a
development programme
involving employment related
workshops. Our beneficiaries
will also be given the
opportunity of work
experience with
InterContinental Hotel
Groups.

We are working on this project in association with DRIVE Enterprises.
